Who wants to take "The Grover Challenge?"
He has doctors, therapists, friends, family and the world scratching their heads. Who has the answer? Is it you?
Grover is the hero that we all need in our lives. He has been through so much in his 3 years, yet he asks for nothing in return (except for the occasional Elmo video).
Grover was born with Trisomy 21(Down Syndrome) and a Congenital Heart Defect. He has had 3 open heart surgeries, and a GI surgery in which a Nissen procedure was performed and a G-Tube was placed.
We are looking for help and advice to get Grover better. 3 years after receiving his G-Tube, he still has not eaten a full meal by mouth. We recently diagnosed him to be both Gluten intolerant (Celiac), as well as sensitive to Casein. We have dramatically changed his diet, but his willingness to eat orally has not improved.
We are exploring the possibility of an adverse reaction to the Dacron patch which is in his heart, possible allergy to the silicon in his G-tube, or the possibility of a neural issue that occurred as a result of being intubated and sedated under heavy anesthesia.
We would love to hear from anyone who has a friend, loved one, patient or child who has been through a similar situation.
We want answers, and most importantly, we want to FREE GROVER T!
